Weekend Reading: 07.08.2018

Last night, my friend Tara and I saw Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, and it was amazing. I watched Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood as a kid, and always took pride in the fact that Mr. Rogers went to college in my hometown, but pretty much forgot about the show after childhood. As an adult, though, learning more about Rogers’ quiet-yet-radical message of love and acceptance was incredibly moving—especially considering current events and the times we’re living in. I walked out of the theater with a strong desire to start doing more for others, and I’m now trying to figure out what that means for me and Rob.

Long story short: if it’s playing near you, make an effort to see this movie. And bring tissues—I cried through the entire last quarter of it.

In other news, Rob and I (and Rambo!) are taking a legit long-weekend vacation coming up—we’re going to visit friends at their cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains—and I couldn’t be more excited to get off the grid and into some slightly cooler weather for a little bit. So far the plans include tubing, s’mores and waterfall hiking. Yeah, I’m stoked.

And finally, lots of links to share this week. Enjoy!
